Q: IS THIS REALLY GLUTEN FREE? 

THE ANSWER........ Modern Whisk is absolutely gluten free. The baffling mystery around why our products taste so damn good and have insane texture, is all in the carefully curated flours and the superior ingredients that encompass them. We don't cut corners on quality and ensure we maintain an approachable price point!

Q. What allergens are you free from?

**We are GLUTEN-FREE not gluten-friendly**

All Modern Whisk products are free from gluten, peanuts, tree nuts and sorghum. Our products are processed in a dedicated gluten-free commercial facility on dedicated gluten-free equipment and can be made vegan and/or dairy-free. We take great care ensuring that our raw ingredients are gluten free both by nature and through processing, meaning that our ingredients are not processed on equipment that also handle gluten-containing ingredients.

 

Q. Are your mixes easy to make?

Yes! We know firsthand how challenging life can be – and creating multiple meals / snacks to accommodate picky eaters needs to be efficient. Our mixes are best made with a bowl, spatula, and whisk – and come together within minutes. Simplicity is amazing!


Q. What flavours of cake mix do you offer?

Our Modern Cake Mix is designed to be the ultimate base for any flavour your heart desires at that particular moment! We've created a wide range of options for you to explore, making it easy to customize your creations without sacrificing time, money and convenience. Q. Why do you recommend sifting your mixes?

Sifting has two functions in baking which are always recommended, regardless of whether you’re using a mix or baking from scratch.

1. Sifting creates aeration which helps when you add in your liquids for even distribution. This also helps to ensure recipe accuracy, especially when you’re scratch baking 

2. Sifting also helps to remove any particulate and break up any ingredients that have clumped together into lumps.


Q. Why do you recommend letting your mixes sit prior to baking / cooking?

Gluten free flours typically have a larger and coarser grain size which takes longer to absorb liquids which is necessary to create a softer crumb and better mouthfeel of the baked good. Gluten-free batters oftentimes will look quite runny at first and take some additional time to thicken up. It is very easy to over add dry ingredients with GF baking. All our recipes are tested to ensure consistency.


Q. What kind of sugar do you use in your mixes?

We use a Canadian sugar which is vegan through process and made from beets. This is a refined sugar which provides the most consistent results.
